that's a Hawaiian HAPPY NEW YEAR, and lets just say 2012 is gearing up to be pretty darn fantastic!!
So...we may not have the wedding planning complete but we as we flew off to New Orleans for New Years we made the final changes to our itinerary, confirmed with the travel agent and now have our honeymoon completely booked! Even the planning process has been fantastically fun, I wish we had video of the part where I had to explain to A what a "lei welcome" was at the travel agents desk, hilarious!
First, we'll have to gather some understated island wear, no neon flashy colors. I'm just hoping A looks good in some printed garb, lord knows he's not going to look like a native with that red hair and freckled skin...luckily he'll have company slathering on the SPF 30 since even I will need to wear sunscreen for this trip. I love this article about how to avoid looking like a tourist How to Dress in Hawaii & Not Look Like a tourist.
After what we're sure will be a tearful goodbye to our family and loved ones, especially my baby girls, we'll be setting off for the first leg of our trip in O'ahu. I admit I had to look up exactly where that was in Hawaii. A is a history buff so no Hawaiian trip for him would be complete without a visit to Pearl Harbor Memorial so it was decided we'd split our honeymoon between two islands. First stop is our beautiful hotel outsite all the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu at The Kahala Resort and Spa. For 6 days/5 nights we'll sip cocktails on our private lanai overlooking the mountains, enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation at the spa, and enjoy snorkeling, swimming, tanning, shopping, exploring and even partake of a sunset cruise.
After that it's a quick 30 minute flight to Kaua`i for a 7 days/6 nights for our beach cottage adventure! On Kaua`i we plan to eat like the locals do, strap our kayaks to the roof of our jeep and take them out to explore the rivers, hike to the falls and even enjoy some sunrise yoga and cook farmers market yummies at our own private cottage overlooking Kalihiwai Bay. I have a feeling there will be hundreds of photos to share, print and relish every moment of.
Can you tell we're excited? It's going to be an out of this world adventure made for two!
