I am the very proud owner of two brand spankin' new ensembles from lululemon, and it has only taken me 37 years to be able to afford them because they are seriously expensive. Seriously.
I honestly didn't know what all the hype was about. I mean I had seen women at yoga and pilates looking all spiffy and what not but I didn't notice anything particularly spectacular about the styles.
I was happy and comfortable in my Target purchases for running and yoga and hadn't given the brand names much thought until last year when I started training for longer distance running.
Initially I bought some running capris from Athleta and was pleasantly surprised to find pockets for chapstick and gel and even the little bit of reflective piping for night running, which I don't even do but it looks kinda cute. With my main concern being comfort, they totally fit the bill. Recently I noticed that the seams were fraying a bit and even caused mild discomfort on the longer runs so I started researching other brands.
I came upon lululemon in my research and started really liking what I was reading...the first description that really caught my eye was "chafe-resistant flat seams". Hmm, that sounds nice. Then I read on, "smooth and flat waistband is comfortable and won't dig in". Translation, no muffin top, thank the good Lord.
The final tipping point was the fact that they sell their clothes in dress sizes, not the vague and always inconsistent small, medium and large.
I summoned up the check card, placed my order and waited the two days it took to fly my new clothes from Vancouver, BC to Burke, VA. And let me tell you, when they arrived they did not disappoint.
RUN HAPPY
I took my new running gear out for a test drive on Friday morning and there was no chaffing, no muffin top and plenty of space for my chaptick & gel.
I also got to experience yoga with a top that didn't ride up as I flowed from forward fold to plank to downward facing dog. The cozy and reversible sweater, complete with the thumbholes I adore for cold mornings, made the perfect companion to cover the booty while stopping at Starbucks for as espresso with whip and preschool pick up.
I am thrilled with my purchases but will wait to be truly wowed when I see how they hold up in the wash.
I'm not the best when it comes to following laundering instructions but I feel like considering the price tag for these bad boys, they're going to be receiving a little TLC.
That is of course assuming I remember that they are there when I mindlessly dump the laundry basket into the washer.
Umm, you should have said something as I washed them last night with everything else :)
